I have seriously talented friends...

One of my best friends is an amazing florist. She recently has started doing weddings on her own, and her work is incredibly beautiful. This weekend I got to help out.

We started out with a lot of fresh flowers.

naturally I contributed to the 4 am night-before-preparations with the usual.

the amazing center pieces.

my contribution. a spin on the carnation flower ball.
(also my first floral attempt, I felt good about the results.)

Seriously, if you are getting married or need flowers for anything, rachel is seriously amazing.

Sun vs. Snow

It's officially August, which means there are only a few summer months remaining. While most people realize this news with some regret, I can hardly wait for the colder months and the snow. Call me crazy but there is something incredible that happens when the leaves fall and the first snow of the season hits - even better when the first power day hits and you snap on your ski boots and hit the slopes. I love me some summer but I'd take a snow day over a sunny day pretty much any day of my life. I cannot wait for the ski season.

Samurai

When you drive a car like mine, it's hard not to take advantage of the sheer beauty of it.

Rachel got in on it too.

"We need to make kids understand they have the power to scare people..."

I recently decided that 4 years in Provo was not enough. Why not spend another 2 surrounded by the overall wearing, PDA crazy BYU zoobes and get ANOTHER degree in Elementary Education. Good idea eh...

Going from Advertising classes to Elementary Education classes has been a little bit of a shock. I used to learn about cutting edge media tools, now I am learning ways to get kindergarteners into a circle easily (form a train while running and then run your train of kindergarteners into a circle), finding the "jungle beat" in my el ed music class while dancing around my teacher playing an African drum, and spending my time coloring, reading picture books, and making lessons plans.

The funniest part of this all, despite being surrounded by mainly mom's and young married girls that make up the el ed major, is that I am absolutely loving it. Getting past the inhibitions of doing ridiculous things in most my classes has been a little interesting, and some days (actually many days) I want to die at the stuff that I am made to do, but at the end of the day I really do like what I'm doing.
